Founded in 2010 by Bertrand and Trina Boutin, Lemonade Acre is a family-owned business in Arizona.

In filmmaking, as in life, you have to make the best of what circumstances throw at you.

Bert & Trina do just that, working with filmmakers and producers of all budget ranges to maximize their budgets and often do things they didn’t think would be possible on a tight budget.

Lemonade Acre has an extensive network of local talent, so if there’s something they haven’t done themselves, Lemonade Acre can bring on other team members for specialty work, or as needed, are more than happy to refer any filmmaker to someone in the community that can help.

Below is a list of the resources, skills, and capabilities of Lemonade Acre. This list is always growing with each project, and with each experiment Bert & Trina conduct at the Lemonade Acre creative lair.

Our Capabilities

For more in-depth examples of these capabilities at work, and the projects we’ve worked on, visit our portfolio.

Costuming

50s Americana, Modern, Retro-Future, Cyberpunk, Fantasy… Post-Apocalyptic? No problem. We can cover a wide range of genres, and have accumulated quite a bit of costume pieces from many projects which we repurpose when possible to keep your costs lower.

Prop Design / Building / Procuring

From commissioning excellence concept art, to building out your props, we can help from concept to creation of all sorts of things, such as weapons, technology, mystical artifacts, or everyday items. We also partner with local prop specialists to get our hands on specific props from their large collections.

Set Design / Building / Location Help

A great film often has a detailed and immmersive set to help sell the world, and that the characters really live in it, We can help you design and build any set you need as well as suggest studios for set-building, connect you with great location scout, or point you toward a great location we already know about.

Traditional & Pneumatic Squibs

Visual effects are commonplace, yet traditional approaches such as squibs, also known as “blood squibs” and “bullet hit squibs”, are still a killer option. They are relatively easy and cheap, while looking fantastic, and can help boost a film’s production value.

Bullet Hits - Spark, Dirt, Glass, & Blood

Also known as “Sweeney hits”, “Sweeney balls”, “Zirc balls”, and other names, we have the equipment to provide realistic on-camera bullet hits on a wide variety of surfaces including actors, non-destructive glass hits, sparking hits, dust, brick, cement, asphalt, and more.

Rain and Water Effects

A layer of water across an asphalt surface for night scenes can really add a layer of magic to your scene, reflecting all the lights and colors in. the scene. Rain rigs, or “rain machines” are a great way to add mood/atmosphere to your film for small to medium-scale scenes that can be covered by our equipment.

Smoke and Haze Effects

Smoke and haze effects add a wonderful layer of atmosphere and mood to any scene. Small scale effects, especially indoors, can be more easy to manage, but we can really help with large scale smoke and haze needs which require planning and good management.

LED and Electronics Props / Set Pieces

Sometimes you just need to take something that’s just ‘okay’ or a little too dull and spice it up with something that blinks or glows! Electronics and LEDs can be worked into various props and set decorations to add another layer of visual interest to your scene.

Misc. Fabrication

If you just aren’t sure how something will go together or how to build something for your film, no matter how random, we’re pretty certain a member of the team has done it, or can figure it out.

Pyrotechnic Effects

Need to simulate a burning vehicle, have a crazed man spraying fire from his favorite flamethrower, or something else equally wild? We have some equipment already, can procure what you need, or fabricate it custom for your scene.

Special Effects Makeup & Blood Effects

We can accomplish a variety of special effects makeup, prosthetics, as well as basic cuts, bruises, and various injuries / gore gags. We can also do blood spray effects and other fun gags with stage blood.

Blank-Firing & Gas Blowback Guns

Blank-firing and gas blowback gun (airsoft guns using propane propellant) add a layer of realism to your film. And if you can’t afford to deal with blank guns, we understand. Gas blowback is a great, safe option that still looks great on-screen.
